Author Biography

William H. Hudnut is a former mayor of Indianapolis and the current Joseph C. Canizaro Chair for Public Policy at the Urban Land Institute. He is the author of Cities on the Rebound and Halfway to Everywhere. Tom Murphy is a senior resident fellow and the Klingbeil Family Chair for Urban Development at the Urban Land Institute. He is a former mayor of Pittsburgh, an honorary member of the American Society of Landscape Architects, and a board member of the Pennsylvania League of Cities and Municipalities and the National Rails to Trails Conservancy. Ed McMahon is a nationally renowned authority on sustainable development, land conservation, and urban design. He is a former vice president and director of land use programs at The Conservation Fund. He is the author of Better Models for Commercial Development, Green Infrastructure, and Land Conservation Finance. Michael Beyard is an urban planner and economist with more than 25 years of experience in real estate development, land use planning, and economic development. John McIlwain is the senior resident fellow and J. Ronald Terwilliger Chair for Housing at the Urban Land Institute. He is the founder and former senior managing director of the American Communities Fund for Fannie Mae. Robert Dunphy is a senior resident fellow of transportation and infrastructure at the Urban Land Institute. He is the author of Developing Around Transit, Moving Beyond Gridlock, and Transportation and Growth. Steve Blank is a senior resident fellow of finance at the Urban Land Institute.
